Although Eve plucked the apple from the tree and was banished from the Garden of Eden, she managed to create her very own version of Eden in a beautiful setting beside the Brisbane River. Eve’s on the River is situated in New Farm opposite the old wool store that once stored produce from far and wide, but now is home to swanky upper class apartments. Hidden among these apartments and situated on the water’s edge is Eve’s on the River, and on a beautiful summer night watching the city lights reflected in the water, one would be forgiven for making a comparison with a certain celestial garden.
The interior of the restaurant is chic, with a long bar filling part of the dining room and tables spilling onto the terrace. The menu is modern Australian with influences from Italy, Spain and France and Asia creating a fusion of flavours. Follow in Eve’s footsteps and sample the apple, pecan and Persian fetta tartlet with salsa verde for starters. Or for a seafood experience try the seared scallops with pumpkin puree, crisp prosciutto and a balsamic reduction. For mains choose from a hearty paella, oven-roasted duck breast or twice-cooked pork belly with celeriac puree and calvados jus. Eve’s has an impressive wine list to accompany whichever dishes you choose to indulge in, making this a seriously heavenly dining experience.
